Grains Post Modest Gains in Quiet Thursday Session
Thursday was for the most part a positive session across ag commodities,
with corn, soybean, and wheat futures showing moderate moves higher. Outside
market influence was positive to ag markets on Thursday with the U.S. Dollar
Index breaking back toward late January lows, meanwhile equity markets were
firmer as investors and traders attempt to sort out their portfolios amid
Wednesday's inflation fears which were followed up Thursday with a
hotter-than-expected Producer Price Index reading as well. This will set up an
interesting few weeks of positioning ahead of the Personal Consumption
Expenditure data out on Feb. 28, which is the Fed's favorite metric for gauging
inflation in the U.S. economy.
